Back from the pasture, plus few recommendations: Yeti On Horseback, Mountainscape

Shrike

Summer vacation is done and I’m back to my normal routines, which includes writing about music.

Also, sorry for the last news letter, there is a URL shortener that I use which was caught on automatic spam protection for some reason and it never ended up on subscriber mailboxes, I think). You can read the 2026.06 Last month I mostly listened to post now, there were some definite bangers 🤘

Here are few of promos that grabbed my attention even during my vacation.

Firstly, I recommend you check out Canadian Yeti On Horseback’s new album Traditional Addictions.
They play sludge drenched doom, with some metal punctuation thrown in the mix. In addition to a deathwish, they clearly have a sense of humour if their track names (I’m looking at you “Erotic Goth Dad”) and Bandcamp tags are anything to go by (especially love the “dad rock” tag).
They also have some hilarious band (their FB) promo pics (everythingisnoise.net).

Another good one has been British band Mountainscape’s new album Traversing Realms, also out today.
My notes on the album just say “instru post-rock, metal”, while the band says they play music with “elements of post-rock, black metal, doom, sludge and ambient in a filmscore inspired way” which is wauy better that my description.

Anyway, I’ll post my listens in about a week and Doom Charts is also inbound quite soon!
Cheerio!
